This ring features a natural Sri Lankan sapphire, known for its vibrant blue color and exceptional clarity. Set in solid 14k yellow gold, the center stone is framed by three white diamonds on each side, adding sparkle and balance to the design.
The sapphire shows a silvery, steely blue indoors and becomes a more vivid, oceanic blue in natural light. With a clean, low-profile silhouette, this piece is ideal for everyday wear while offering classic elegance and subtle color.
Finished in high-polish 14k yellow gold for warmth and contrast.

STONE ORIGIN AND HISTORY:
SRI LANKA (Sapphire)
Sri Lanka, often regarded as the world’s premier source of sapphire, has a centuries-old reputation for producing exceptional gems in classic colors—particularly rich blues, vibrant yellows, and delicate pinks. The island’s gem deposits have yielded some of the largest and finest sapphires ever recorded, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of the global sapphire market.
From a modern gem-cutting perspective, obtaining Sri Lankan sapphire rough is extremely difficult. Local regulations require that sapphires be cut before export, meaning that rough stones are rarely available on the open market outside Sri Lanka. As a result, cutters and jewelers abroad typically purchase finished stones from Sri Lankan dealers—and often undertake the complex and risky process of re-cutting these gems to meet contemporary standards of style and brilliance.
Sri Lankan cutters are renowned for their expert ability to analyze internal color zoning and orient sapphires to maximize their color saturation and overall appeal. However, re-cutting a sapphire without damaging or cutting through these delicate color zones requires exceptional skill and a deep respect for the original cutter’s artistry. It is a delicate balance between preserving the gem’s natural beauty and applying modern cutting techniques to enhance brilliance and style.
This complexity, combined with the high cost and risk involved, has led many modern cutters to avoid the Sri Lankan sapphire market. Consequently, sapphires that have been thoughtfully re-cut in a contemporary fashion are particularly rare and highly prized. We are proud to offer Sri Lankan sapphires that embody both the rich heritage of their origin and the refined aesthetics of modern gem cutting.
