This rare and vibrant garnet was first discovered in 1967 near the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and named after the nearby Tsavo National Park in Kenya.

Found in both Tanzania and Kenya, Tsavorite occurs in small, high-quality deposits within metamorphic rock formations. These deposits are limited and highly selective, making fine tsavorites exceptionally scarce.
