At the center of this ring, five stones are arranged in a four-petal design — four vibrant blue sapphires form the petals, surrounding a brilliant white diamond at the center.  The blue sapphires are an open royal blue, reminiscent of color of the pelagic open oceans. The layout gives the impression of a stylized flower, blending symmetry and sparkle.

Additional blue sapphires and diamonds are scattered organically along the band, adding movement and light from every angle. Set in polished 14k yellow gold, the overall design feels playful yet refined — a perfect balance of color and elegance.

Ideal as a statement ring or a unique stacking piece.

STONE ORIGIN AND HISTORY:

ILAKAKA, MADAGASCAR (Sapphire Melee)
Ilakaka, in the southern highlands of Madagascar, is one of the world’s most important sources for melee sapphires. Since its discovery in the late 1990s, this region has produced an abundance of small, vibrant sapphires in rich royal blue hues, as well as purples, pinks, yellows, and greens. The rich variety and volume of melee material from Ilakaka have made Madagascar a key supplier of these brilliantly colored accent stones.

While larger, richly saturated gems are rarer, the melee from Ilakaka offers exceptional quality and intense color that brings depth and sparkle to any design.

Mining here is primarily artisanal and small-scale, with rough stones typically sold quickly and shipped mainly to Sri Lanka for cutting. This export pattern can make sourcing Ilakaka melee sapphires directly a challenge for many jewelers outside traditional cutting centers.

We are proud to present a thoughtfully curated selection of Ilakaka melee sapphires, chosen for their vibrant royal blue color, clarity, and character. These petite gems capture the extraordinary beauty of Madagascar’s geology and add a special touch of natural elegance to fine jewelry designs.
